Professor Nadja Alexander (Director, SIDRA) and Shouyu Chong (Research Fellow) have contributed to the 2019 Singapore Academy of Law Annual Review of Singapore Cases, by writing the inaugural chapter on Mediation and Appropriate Dispute Resolution. The chapter highlights a number of important Singapore High Court and Court of Appeal judgments, deciding on matters related to mediation and ADR. In this chapter, matters about recognition and enforcement of negotiated and/or mediated settlement agreements, mediation and ADR practice and ethics, and civil procedure aspects of mediation (including disclosure of mediation evidence and the apportionment of costs) are examined. Readers will find that the mediation case law in the superior courts of Singapore (at the High Court and Court of Appeal levels) is rapidly developing in recent years. We hope that you will enjoy reading the contribution, which can be found here.
