The Singapore Convention Week has been a busy one for the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy (SIDRA), with multiple events held over the last few days.
📌 We started off with a breakfast launch for the Preliminary Findings of our 2023 International Dispute Resolution Survey, with our research associates Angela Abala and Tan Xi'en Rachel presenting on the findings and joined by Chiann Bao and Lucas Bastin KC. We were joined by friends from the United Kingdom, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Samoa, and had a very fruitful time discussing themes arising from the Survey.
📌 On 30 and 31 August 2023, SIDRA co-organised two closed-door workshops in conjunction with the Ministry of Law, Singapore, UNCITRAL: United Nations Commission on International Trade Law and International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) on government capacity building and investor-State dispute settlement. We had speakers join us from all over the world, including Ashique Rahman Anna Howard Michael Mcilwrath Nadja Alexander Wooseok (신우석 慎祐奭) Shin Natascha Tunkel María Verónica Duarte Garcia Martin Fullick TAKAHITO K. and Atsushi Fukuda.
📌 The week then ended off with a review of recent developments and cases in investor-State dispute settlement, organised by SIDRA, Fietta LLP and Rajah & Tann Asia, where we had a distinguished panel comprising Colin Seow Ashique Rahman Kevin Lee Mark McLaughlin and Anneliese Day KC who delved into intriguing discussions on contemporary issues in ISDS.
